Managed device

How to set up an Allied-issued Mac, iPhone, or iPad.

What you will receive

A device that is either brand new or freshly wiped and re-imaged. It will be enrolled in Allied's mobile device management (MDM) platform — Iru — so onboarding is largely automatic. All you need is your a2i.network (or <subdomain>.a2i.network) email address and password.

TBD — reviewer to confirm: Iru enrolment URL, the name of the user-facing self-service catalogue, and any pre-installed app list.

Set up

  1. Power on the device and follow the Apple onboarding flow.
  2. Sign in with your Allied email and password.
  3. For the iCloud Apple ID, you can use either your Allied identity or a personal Apple ID — your choice.
  4. Iru will pre-install Allied's core apps and prompt you through any remaining configuration (including Google Drive on macOS).
  5. Where an app supports Google Sign-In, use it.

Apple Pay on iOS

An Allied-managed Apple ID restricts Apple Pay. If you need Apple Pay on a managed iPhone or iPad, sign in with a personal Apple ID (for example your.name.a2i@gmail.com) instead.

Self-service app catalogue

Iru provides a self-service catalogue of additional approved apps. Open it from your Applications folder (macOS) or Home Screen (iOS) once enrolment completes.

Need an app that is not listed?

Ask in #it-support on Slack. Only apps from the Apple, Google, or Microsoft stores can be installed without approval — see POL-DIG-013 System and Information Integrity Policy.
